Seven years ago, two of my artist friends and I took a wonderful trip to a workshop in the magical countryside of France. The place is called Les Soeurs Anglaises, owned by the lovely and talented Katie Elliott Armitage.
The workshop we attended was taught by the exquisite, Julie Arkell. We had lovely tea and croissants each morning. Then, we spent the day creating, sewing and chatting with women from all over the world.
The space opened up to a landscape that was breathtaking. The dinners each evening were prepared by Katie, her sister Carol, and her son and they were to die for yummy. They, of course, were served with wine and lots of great conversation.
One day, we made a visit into a small town for shopping and a picnic made from the fresh goodies we bought at the market. We stopped at the most wonderful brocante filled with quirky treasures. We made some very special stitched pieces through our days there. We shared our creations with the group on the last day’s “show and tell.” It truly was one of the best experiences of my life. I went away dreaming about my next visit and now my dream is coming true!!
